Complex Diaagnostics of Cranio-cerebral Injuries with MDCT

Cranio-cerebral trauma belongs to the most frequently performed examinations in theall emergency and trauma centers. Fast and exact diagnostics of the brain or neurocraniumtrauma type is crucial for early beginning of the treatment of the victim. Theauthors present their three-years experience with the cranio-cerebral trauma assessmentwith the sixteen-detector-row computed tomography and evaluate the increasedquality of the diagnostics. Multi-detector examination does not lead to fundamentalchanges to imaging of the brain damage itself, but it exceptionally contributes to easierthe evaluation of the skeleton injury including simultaneous evaluation of the facialskeleton and explanation of the symptoms arising from the injury of the neural orvascular structures passing through the basis cranii interna.
