Fluctuating Perceptual HearingDisorder in a Child

Overview
Acquired auditory disorders in children have different causes. They can be stationaryor progressive. Only some which developed suddenly are reversible if they are immediately treatedby peripheral vasodilatating agents. Fluctuating auditory disorders of the inner ear are little knownin children and frequently develop into a progressive severe auditory disorder. In the submitted case-history the authors draw attention to a case of rare fluctuating auditorydisorder in a four-year-old child caused by autoimmune disease. By detection of the cause (autoimmunedisease) and corticoid treatment not only deafness was prevented but also damage of otherorgans caused by the autoimmune disease.
Key words:
fluctuating hearing disorder of the inner ear, children, autoimmune disease.
