Rocuronium as an Alternative to Suxamethonium for Endotracheal Intubation
Rocuronium jako alternativa suxamethonia k tracheální intubaci
Rocuronium bromid je nedepolarizující svalové relaxans steroidní struktury s rychlým nástupem účinku, selektivní afinitou k svalstvu hrtanua střední délkou trvání účinku. Poskytuje vhodnou alternativu suxamethonia k "rapid sequence" intubaci bez jeho nežádoucích účinkù. Autořiv prospektivní studii popisují intubační podmínky po podání rocuronium bromidu v dávce 0,6 mg/kg u 50 pacientů. Nástup účinku rocuronia jestandardní a srovnatelný se suxamethoniem. Oběhové parametry jsou ovlivnìny minimálně a ani u pacientů s renální insuficiencí nedochází k význam-nému prodloužení délky účinku.

Overview
Rocuronium bromide is a steroid-structure non-depolarizing muscle relaxant agent, characterized by selective affinity to laryngeal muscles, fastonset and medium-term duration of action. It could be seen as a suitable alternative to suxamethonium for "rapid sequence" intubation, without thelatters adverse effects. The prospective study evaluated intubation conditions in fifty patients following administration of rocuronium bromide0.6 mg/kg. The speed of onset of action after rocuronium administration is comparable to suxamethonium. The effect on hemodynamics is negligible. There was not observed significantly prolonged duration of action even in chronic renal failure patients.
