Effect of Biotic Elicitors on the Production of Flavonoids in Suspension Culture of Bellisperennis L.

Overview
The effect of two biotic elicitors (homogenates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida utilis) ina suspension culture of Bellis perennis L. cultivated in the dark and day light period were examined. The growth of the culture was not negatively affected by the action of elicitors. Increased productionof flavonoids in the culture depended on the sort, concentration and space of time of action of theelicitor, and on the manner of cultivation from the viewpoint of the light regimen. The best resultswere achieved with the use of the homogenate of Candida utilis after 24 hours in cultivation underthe day light period and after 48 hours in cultivation in the dark.
