Tyto stránky byly připraveny ve spolupráci s the British Medical Association Tobacco Control Resource Centre(www.tobacco-control.org) a Pracovní skupinou pro prevenci a léčbu závislosti na tabáku ČLS JEP. The TCRCspolupracuje s národními lékařskými společnostmi v Evropě a podporuje je v jejich úsilí vzdělávat své členy,pomáhat pacientům a informovat veřejnost o souvislostech užívání tabáku. The TCRC získává fondy z Evropskékomise a z the British Medical Association a také podporu od ostatních evropských lékařských společností.Míru závislosti na cigaretách i motivaci přestat můžeme zjistit jednoduchými otázkami. Úspěšnost odvykánípredikuje víc míra závislosti nežmotivace přestat. Pro silně závislé kuřáky je indikována vyšší dávka farmakoterapie.

Both the level of cigarette dependence and motivation to stop smoking could be easily assessed by simple questions.Success rate can be predictedmore fromthe level of dependence than fromthemotivation to stop. For heavy dependentsmokers higher doses of pharmacotherapy are indicated.
