Medical Faculties and General/Practical Medicine in the Czech Republic

Článek je příspěvkem k diskuzi o postavení všeobecného/praktického lékařství v České republice. Uvádí možnostirozvoje oboru jako plnohodnotné akademické disciplíny plně srovnatelné s klasickými lékařskými obory na lékařskýchfakultách. Upozorňuje na vybrané problémy a odlišnosti primární péče ve vztahu ke klinické medicíně.Rozebírá nové potencionální možnosti účasti akademických pracovišť lékařských fakult na specializačnímvzdělávánív souladu s právě probíhajícími legislativními změnami. Poukazuje na specifika výzkumu v primární péči, na jehonezbytnost pro plnou akademickou emancipaci oboru a pro řešení problémů v primární péči.

Overview
This article is a contribution to a discussion about the position of general medicine in the Czech Republic. Possibilitiesfor development of this branch as a regular academic discipline, entirely comparable with classical medical branchesof the Medical Faculty, are given. Some problems and differences in primary care in comparison with clinicalmedicine are stressed. New potential possibilities for participation of the medical faculties’ academic work placesin specialization training according to on-going legislative changes are presented. The specificities of the researchand the problems in primary care are pointed out. This research will help the general medicine to achieve equalitywith other academic disciplines.
