Hypotermia as an injury, illness, symptom
Podchlazení (hypotermie) jako úraz, nemoc a příznak
Článek se věnuje nechtěné hypotermii - poklesu teploty tělesného jádra pod 35 °C. Cílem je poněkud přiblížit rozsah problematiky a seznámit čtenáře s okolnostmi, které mohou vést k podezření na hypotermii jako příčinu zdravotních potíží. Medicínský postoj k podchlazení je dán také, jak je ilustrováno i na kazuistikách, tradicí a kulturou. Stručně popsána je „nová" teorie regulace tělesné teploty. Článek vychází ze zkušeností autora z různých pracovišť a je také přehledem literatury.

Overview
The article deals with accidental hypothermia – a fall in the body core temperature to below 35 °C. The aim is to present an overview of the issue and familiarise the reader with the risk factors associated with hypothermia. Case studies are included that show that the medical care and treatment of hypothermia is also determined by tradition and culture. A new theory about thermoregulation of the body temperature is outlined in brief. The article reflects the personal experience of the author as well as an overview of the current literature.
