Non-steroid Antirheumatic Drugs

Overview
The author presents a basic review on non-steroid antirheumatic drugs incl. a new group of drugs, so-called selective COX-2 inhibitors. Non-steroid antirheumatics are among the most frequently prescribed drugs in surgeries of doctors of different disciplines. In addition to positive effects (antiphlogistic, antipyretic, analgesic) steroid antirheumatics have also undesirable effects, in particular gastrotoxicity. Attention is drawn to possible prevention of gastropathy during treatment with non-steroid antirheumatic drugs
Key words:
non-steroid antirheumatic drugs - selective COX-2 inhibitors - gastrotoxicity - prevention of gastropathy.
