Dermatological Problems of Our Travellers

Overview
The authors wish to make the medical community familiar with a less common health problem which must be taken into account in trips to the tropical part of South and Central America. Dermatobiosis, a tropical furunculoid myasis caused by larvae of Dermatobia hominis developed in two citizens after a stay in Peru. The authors also wish to emphasize that affection with a severe parasitosis, such as this dermatobiosis may be (depending on the site of the lesion where the larvae of the fly develop) may occur even after a very short stay in endemic area. Suitable treatment is surgical and after removal of the larvae possibly suppression of secondary infection.
