New Possibilities in the Treatment of Migraine
Novější možnosti v léčbě migrény
Farmakologická léčba migrény zahrnuje léčbu akutního záchvatu (abortivní) a léčbu profylak-tickou (preventivní).

Overview
The pharmacologic management of migraine includes abortive therapy (i.g. the treatment ofan acute attack) and prophylactic (preventive) therapy. The purpose of abortive therapy is therelief from headache and associated symptoms. Agents used in abortive therapy are simpleanalgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ergots and triptans. Prophylactic therapyis administered to reduce the frequency, duration and intensity of attacks. The most commonlyused prophylactic agents are beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, anticonvulsants, seroto-nin (5-HT2) receptor antagonists and antidepressants. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugscan be also used.
