Overview
Fats are an attractive topic for the media. Many articles present correct and scientifically proven information. However, many articles propagate myths, presenting information about fats out of context, distorted and incorrect. The issue of fats is complex. Anyone wanting to delve deeper into it must have knowledge from different disciplines. This is why there are so many errors in articles about fats. Health is affected not only by what we eat, but also by what we do not eat. Many myths also arise from misinterpretations of individual studies and meta-analyses. Some simplifications are also made by the articles’ authors, who sometimes later set the record straight. The media react spontaneously to published studies. If the reaction is hasty and incorrect, corrections usually do not appear later. Even seemingly surprising conclusions can be rationally explained.
