Early postoperative complications include ileus, urinary leak, mucus obstruction, and DVT. Later problems include incontinence, difficult catheterization, stomal problems, metabolic disturbances, urinary infections, pouch stones, and hydronephrosis. Contributing factors to these problems are discussed, and appropriate management is detailed.
