This article summarizes basic information on the position of gynaecological sexology within the field of gynaecology and obstetrics and describes scientific content of this sub-specialisation. Current situation and conception in sexology at home and abroad are provided, as well as information about linking various disciplines in the field of sexual medicine. Need for education of undergraduate and postgraduate gynaecologists in this area is highlighted.
