The geriatric patient and surgery

Overview
Number of patients older than 65 years indicated for surgery is growing. Estimation of the surgery risk in this age has its specific aspects not present in younger patients. Beside organ dysfunctions is necessary to estimate function reserves of geriatric patients, especially presence of frailty syndrome, because those seniors have very high surgery risk.
