Overview

This case shows how a single symptom can lead to the diagnosis of an incipient disease. A 26-year-old female teacher had prolonged diplopia after a head trauma. Her general practitioner did not hesitate to order a neurological examination, including an MRI of the head, which proved the suspicion of multiple sclerosis. After a thorough neurological examination, including a cerebrospinal fluid examination, in which pattern II – positive oligoclonal synthesis of IgG in the CNS was strongly expressed, multiple sclerosis was finally diagnosed. And the patient was provided with early and effective treatment.
