Overview
Multiple myeloma is the second most common blood cancer in the Czech Republic and its incidence is still increasing. Experience from everyday clinical practice shows that up to half of patients with multiple myeloma start treatment late due to late diagnosis. The original CRAB project of the Czech Myeloma Group was aimed at improving this fact. The current article summarizes the results of the questionnaire part of the CRAB II project, which should be followed by an extensive information campaign on the symptoms of the disease, including the recommended examination procedure in case of suspicion of their possible connection with this serious disease. Improvements in the diagnostics of multiple myeloma, especially with regard to early diagnosis, and the shift of modern treatment procedures to the first line of treatment should lead to further prolongation and at the same time improvement in the quality of life of patients in the future.
