Význam železa v séru u nemocných s chronickou hepatitidou B a C
Význam železa v séru u chronické hepatitidy B a C není plně objasněn. Autoři vyšetřili hodnoty železa v séru u 473 pacientů, z toho u 74 HB s Ag pozitivních s chronickou hepatitidou B, 207 anti-HCV pozitivních s chronickou hepatitidou C, a u 192 náhodných kontrol s jinými nemocemi jater. Sérologické markery infekce HBV a HCV byly vyšetřeny metodami ELISA, 57 % pacientů s chronickou hepatitidou B a C mělo provedenu jaterní biopsii.

Závěr:
U pacientů s chronickou hepatitidou B a C bylo zjištěno statisticky významné zvýšení hodnot železa v séru a přestože je ještě v pásmu normálních hodnot, je to důležitý nález, protože je u obou hepatitid spojeno s významným zvýšením aktivity ALT a AST.

Overview
The clinical importance of serum iron levels in hepatitis B and C patients is not fully known. Serum iron levels were tested in a total of 473 patients, of whom 74 were HBsAg positive, 207 anti-HCV positive, and 192 were random controls with other liver diseases. Serological markers of HBV and HCV infection were tested by ELISA methods, and a liver biopsy was performed in 57 % of hepatitis B and C patients.

Conclusions:
Significantly higher serum iron levels were detected in patients with chronic hepatitis B and C, and although they were below the upper limit of what is considered a normal value, it was an important finding because they were accompanied by significantly higher ALT and AST activity in both groups of hepatitis patients.
