Effect of piracetam on severe vascular type dementia symptoms – nonintervention retrospective follow-up
Účinnost piracetamu na pokročilou demenci s klinicky převažujícími symptomy vaskulárního typu - retrospektivní sledování
Demence s převahou vaskulární symptomatiky zaujímá po Alzheimerově demenci druhé místo v celkovém výskytu demenci. Autoři článku v úvodu souhrnně uvádějí základní údaje týkající se tohoto onemocnění. Předkládají vlastní retrospektivní sledování účinnosti piracetamu na symptomy pokročilé demence uváděného typu. Výsledky jejich práce neprokázaly statisticky významný příznivý vliv sledovaného léku.

Overview
Vascular type dementia is second commonest causa of dementia. The authors of the article have done a survey of essential data concerning vascular type dementia. They present also follow-up evaluating effect of piracetam on symtoms in patiens with clinical picture of severe vascular type dementia. This follow-up is retrospective. The assembled results of the follow-up showed that a favourable effect for piracetam was not found in severe vascular type dementia symptoms.
