Overview
Biliary obstruction is a common complication of cancer that affects the bile duct. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiography with biliary stent implantation is considered standard procedure for unresectable malignancies with obstruction. Percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage is an alternative when endoscopic drainage fails. Endosonographic-guided biliary drainage is a relatively new method, which is seeking its place in the algorithm of non-surgical palliative therapy of biliary obstruction.
Key words:
biliary obstruction – biliary drainage
