Aim of the study: The aim of the study is to compare CEUS findings with definitive histopathology in patients whose laparoscopic nephron sparing surgery (LNSS) was based on the CEUS result.
Material and method: LNSS for kidney tumor was performed from 1/2019 to 10/2020 in 79 patients. In 14 (18 %) of them (11 men, 3 women, age 45–74) were indication based on CEUS finding. These examinations were performed by 6 radiologists. Previous CT reveals no clearly diagnosed renal masses, mostly cystic. Sixteen suspect lesions were removed and evaluated.
Results: Definitive malignant histopathological finding was in 13 from 16 removed tumors (81 %) and in 1 definitive benign – oncocytoma. In 2 were described multilocular cystis neoplasia of low malignant potential. One of two patients with 2 removed tumors has von Hippel-Lindau syndrom. All patiens were without postoperative surgical complications.
Conclusion: CEUS has a potential to precise the indication of surgical treatment of renal tumors in cases of unclear CT finding. The advantage is more precise imaging of vacularisation of complex cysts and small renal lesions compared to CT.
