Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Diabetická ketoacidóza
Diabetická ketoacidóza (DKA) sa objavuje asi u 25 % detí s diabetom 1. typu. Ide o metabolickú komplikáciu vyvolanú nedostatkom inzulínu a zvýšenou produkciou kontraregulačných hormónov. Má rôzne vyvolávajúce faktory, ktoré sú príčinou rozbehnutia viacerých patogenetických mechanizmov, ktoré v konečnom dôsledku vedú až k ohrozeniu života dieťaťa. Článok podrobne uvádza klinický obraz a laboratórne parametre DKA, liečbu DKA, jej riziká a možné komplikácie. V závere v krátkosti autori podávajú prehľad situácie hospitalizovaných detí s diabetom v Detskom diabetologickom centre SR v rokoch 2002–2005.

Comprehensive Report
Overview
Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) appears in about 25% of children with diabetes type 1. It is a metabolic complication induced by insulin deficiency and increased production of counterregulating hormones. There are various triggering factors, which cause evolution of various pathogenic mechanisms, which in the final outcome result in endangered life of the child. The article presents a clinical picture and laboratory parameters of DKA. The therapy of DKA is risks and possible complications are elaborated in the article. In conclusion the authors briefly review the situation of the hospitalized children in the Children Diabetological Center of Slovak Republic in the years 2002–2005.
