Porodní hmotnost a vznik diabetu
V posledních letech byly publikovány v zahraničí epidemiologické studie o vztahu mezi fetálním vývojemjedince a vznikem závažných chronických onemocnění v dospělosti, označované jako Barkerova hypotéza. Jednáse především o koronární nemoc srdeční a diabetes 2. typu. Práce podává přehled poznatků o vztahumezi výživoua růstem ve fetálním období a zvýšeným vznikem diabetu 2. typu v dospělosti. Současně jsou uvedeny výsledkymalé pilotní studie, které tuto hypotézu potvrzují.

Several international epidemiological studies were published recently dealing with the possible relationshipbetween foetal development and important chronic diseases like coronary heart disease or non-insulin dependentdiabetes in the adult age, called Barker’s hypothesis. Paper reviews the evidence that the risk of non-insulindependent diabetes in adult life may be set by nutrition and growth in fetal life. At the same time results of a smallpilot study are presented, which correlate with this hypothesis.
